【Und nur die his[1]ist übring geblieben】
【Das Märchen des Lichts und Dunkels】
【Drei…zwei…eins…】
(Mille-feuille)
【Der Weit der Abenddämerung】
「Danke schön!」

Translation
The Fairytale of Light and Darkness
【And history alone remained…】[2]
“Hahaha!”
“Wait up, Will!”
“You’re slow, brother!”
“Wait, brother….ouch, uweeeh…”
“Ahaha.”
“Sorry, Louis, that must’ve hurt.” [3]
“Hey! Something’s dropped beside the well!”
“Oh you.”
【The Fairytale of Light and Darkness】
“There…watch your steps.”
“Yes!”
“Are you doing okay? Not scared?”
“No. I’m really excited right now! Since the forest…the world is so huge!”
“Well, I’ll bring you to a nice spot today. Let’s go!”
“Yes!”
“Ahaha…”
【3...2...1...】
When he looks up, he sees the round night sky, lit by a wavering azure moon
While cursing God’s name, he sings within the bowels of hell…
Within the blind darkness, he mistakenly thought the warmth to be light[4]
Only later did he realize that its name was love
His first friend was a cute girl[mädchen] with green eyes, though they parted
He did not realize that the sadness’ name was infatuation, even in the end
Like giving water to flowers…it follow that…sins require punishment, ah
An eventual 《Good Evening》, the rushing 《Seventh Story》
Turning back on providence[God]
【3...2...1...】
When he looks down, he sees the gloomy ground, lit by a flickering crimson flame
Embraced by his mother’s eyes, he falls into the depths of hell…
“This deserted village…is just like a graveyard…ufufu…”
“Elise, fairytales always begin from the graveyard.”
<Why isn’t there anyone in this village now?)[5]
(──That’s because everyone died in the past>
<Then…why did all the villagers die in the past?)
(──That’s because of the plague of black death>
<Then…why were the mother and her son in the village’s forest?)
(──That’s because 【Id】called them> \Come here to me/
<Then…why did 【Id】 call for humans, and for what?)
(──Because that is precisely his instinct> \Dig me out/
Ah…no matter how much you dig, dig, dig the graves, there never seems to be an end
“Such a tragic era”
Ah…a mille feuille made from corpse and dirt, corpse and dirt, corpse and dirt
“The merciless state of affairs”
↗ 《To survive》
The goal of life is
↘《To multiply》
\Kill!/ \Invade!/ 【Id】sings [6]
“Even if they over-multiply, they just end up killing their hosts…”
“The same can be said about humans and the land…come…let’s continue the story.”
【A gloomy forest at dusk】
“Hey Hans! Is this really the right place?”
“No idea…you think I know?”
“Geez…such an eerie forest.”
“Oh! Tom, that kid…isn’t he the kid of the rumored witch in Thüringen?[7]”
“Woah! We’re in luck today!”
“Right?”
The boy steps on creaking grass wet with night dew
His footsteps were light, sadly so
“Hey! Young mister!”
“We have some business with the wise woman.”
“Can you accompany us to her side?”
The voice that stopped the boy had a vulgar ring to it, but he knows not
Ah…of the ways of the world, of the malice of people, for he was raised without awareness of them-
“Of course I don’t mind! I’ll guide you to my mother.”
“Thank you~ Fuhihi”
Embracing his friend → he leads the uninvited guests → towards his gentle mother → and…
“Mother! I’m back!”
“Welcome hom-- who are those men?”
When he looks over-
“Thanks so much, young mister!”
“Uwahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!”
“Mär-----------!”
【3...2...1...】
“Oh? Look, here’s your friend!”
“Therese von Ludowing, though I have fallen, the blood of Landgraf still runs in my veins! Consider your ugly head forfeit!”
“Is this woman for real…!”
“Hey, wait wait wait-”
“Don’t scream like a pig! You’re disgusting to look at!”
“You’ll understand if you let us explain!”
“You’re not getting away..! Ah!?”
“Don’t make this so hard on us!”
“Ugh…”
As feathers are on birds…it follows that…songs are in the night.
Ah… A coming 《Good Morning》, the stained 《Rose Garden》
Accepting providence[God]
【3...2...1...】
"That brilliant era in which you’re smiling now-
Without hating anyone or regretting death, let’s meet there for sure.[8]"
『The Fairytale of Light and Darkness』
“The seventh graveyard...now begins the revenge tragedy.”
"I'll kill you..."[9]
Annotations
- ↑ The correct German for 'history' is 'historie', though a fan has offered a possible explanation for this discrepancy. 'His' is the German word for the musical note B#, which is the same as C on a piano - the very first note in this song. Thus, the line could possibly encompass both meanings of 'And only history remained...' and 'And only B# remained...'.
- ↑ This line is a direct continuation of the last narration in Gyoukou no Uta, 'The funeral bell tolls seven times for an era; the impulse recedes-'.
- ↑ Will and Louis are nicknames, a possible reference to the Brothers Grimm, Jacob Ludwig Carl Grimm and Wilhelm Carl Grimm.
- ↑ In the 5.1ch surround audio version of the song, the line 'Light is so warm...' could be heard faintly in the background, sung by März.
- ↑ Arrangements of this melody could be found throughout the 7th Story Märchen, serving as a leitmotif for when revenges are carried out.
- ↑ This entire verse possibly corresponds to two components of the Id in Freudian terms, the instinct to survive and multiply, and the death drive, which Freud himself describes partially as "an instinct of destruction directed against the external world and other organisms".
- ↑ A state in Germany located in the central part of the country, it is well known for the dense forest that covers much of its area.
- ↑ This same melody and verse later forms the conclusion of Gyoukou no Uta.
- ↑ This line can only be heard in the PV of the song, the speaker unknown.
